I often need to put a box border around each page in a
WordPerfect document. You can put text inside a WordPerfect
box, but if you do, you won't be able to use certain editing
features--Center Page, for instance. Also, you must create a
new box for each page.
A better approach is to make the box part of your document's
header, so it appears automatically on every page. By
turning off the Wrap Text Around Box option, you can make
text that's a regular part of the document, which you have
more control over, appear to be in the box. Assuming you
want 1-inch text margins all around, here's how to create
the proper header:
At the top of your document, press <Shift>-<F8>, then select
Page Margins. Type .833 and press <Enter> twice. Then select
Headers Header A Every page to get to the header editing
screen.
Before you create the box, define its options. Press
<Alt>-<F9> and select Text Box Options. At the resulting
Option screen, set all four Border Styles to Single (or
whatever you prefer) and Gray Shading to 0. Press <Enter> to
return to the header editing screen.
Next, create the box itself. Press <Alt>-<F9> and select
Text Box Create. At the resulting Definition screen, set the
Anchor Type to Page, leaving the Number of Pages to Skip
option at 0. Type VS.667 and press <Enter> to set the
Vertical Position, HS.8 and <Enter> to set the Horizontal
Position, and WN to turn Wrap Text Around Box off. Press
<Enter> to return to the header editing screen.
To exit the header editing screen, press <F7> twice. All the
pages in your document will now be neatly boxed.

Editor's note: You may have to experiment to line up your
boxes, text, and margins properly. Depending on your
printer, WordPerfect's vertical spacing can get tricky.
